I discovered a secret lake.
This is a view from the other side because I thought the landscape looked particularly magical; a place they could film part of the movie adaptation of my book…assuming somebody will one day want to. I have a film degree, perhaps I should make a start?
Also, if I reveal the secret lake it won’t be a secret anymore. I expect it’s not really secret anyway but it was somewhat off-the-beaten-path and a very nice surprise to me. Nobody else, on what was a popular walking route, had bothered to go this way so, for me on that one special day, it was a secret lake.
It’s been a week of mystery. I arrived home from doing my food shopping (before 9am on a Saturday – that’s how I roll) to discover one of my croissants had escaped its croissant cage. May I present evidence, exhibit a):

I had stacked them carefully at the top of bag so they wouldn’t get squashed. It wasn’t a long journey in the car. The seal wasn’t broken. Mystery.
My first thought was aliens.
My second thought was they’d got squished somehow when I carried the bag into the house and guilty croissant had managed to pop out of one corner of the packaging.
Both valid explanations so I’ll leave you to make your own minds up.
It’s been an eventful weekend, in fact. My loft hatch is getting extended – I write this to a chorus of hammering and the cries of saws – so on the same day I discovered the secret lake, I also had to remove everything from my office (including the rabbit) and transport it downstairs.
Why somebody would build a house with such a tiny loft hatch in the first place I can’t imagine. Actually, I can, and I’ve imagined a house of gnomes, possibly from Terry Pratchett’s Diggers, or Disney’s Gnomeo and Juliet. Again, you decide.
Anyway, it was exhausting. I treated myself to a beer afterwards. I present exhibit b):

Between all this I’m making progress on the third book of my Inner Lands series. I’m trying my hardest to deliver on everything this final book deserves. I’m about 4 chapters in but about two thirds of the way through the planning since I keep changing my mind when I think of more exciting/interesting ideas, or just better ways to do things.
At this point in the series, there’s a lot of explanations I still need to give you on everything that’s transpired so far. I’ve put my characters (and readers) through a lot so I’m aware you all deserve some sort of resolution. It’s a harsh world so we’ll see how it goes.
I’ll leave you with one final image of my walk – perhaps Tamarellin soaring above the Inner Lands? Exhibit c):
